Osheen ran weakly along with the support of Ceren. The red deers steps were a heavy clop as the fell.

"Come on, then. The cougar has his meal." Ceren was filled with sorrow and pain. Aktaion was a good friend, even if they had only known him for a short time.

A whippoorwill calling in the distance added to the somber mood. "May Herne bless his soul," Awentia whispered.

"Yes," said Siarra softly. Then, louder, "Yes! May Herne bless his soul!" "Siarra," Ceren warned.

"May he bless us all till we reach the safety of the valley," Osheen cheered.

Ceren grunted and ignored the deer. "Thank you, Herne. Thank you," cried Siarra.
