Arytiss trashed around in the water, grasping desperately for her bow, well, for anything. All she could see was darkness and the only feeling she had was the movement of water on her skin. The guards head started to throb, and her lungs started to hurt, when out of nowhere she felt a strong grip on her arm. The water rushed pass her at an astounding speed and when her head broke the surface she breathed in deeply. The cool air filled her lungs and she gasped in relief.

Aralt heaved in great breaths and looked at the archer expectantly, as if to ask, "Are you alright?"

Arytiss gasped, a paw over her chest. "My... bow. Where... is my... bow," she wheezed out. The archers flamboyant coat glistened with water in the diminishing sun and her red cloak was dampened to a mahogany from the water. Glancing around Arytiss could not see the owl, so she assumed it had flown off. "Did the... owl... get my bow?" she questioned worriedly, still panting.

Aralt looked around in the snow. No bow. He rolled his eyes and dove back into the water. He looked on the floor for taillengths around, but could find no bow. He surfaced, met eyes with Arytiss, and shook his head.

Arytiss's eyes opened wider, the black depths clouding over with her own liquids. Realizing she was about to cry the ladymouse rubbed furiously at her eyes. As much as she tried though it was no use. The salty water wouldn't recede like the waves she was so used to. Holding her copper paws over her eyes the female warrior cried. She cried like she never had before. The one thing that was a solid in her life, the one thing she could always find relief in was gone.

Aralt put a paw on her back. "We'll find it," he murmured, barely loud enough for her to hear.

Slowly she stopped sniveling, her eyes clearing up. "It's... all I have," she huffed.

Aralt nodded. He sympathized with the archer. He offered her a hand so she could rise to her feet.

Grasping the offered hand the was hauled to her feet, only to stumbled forward on a root. With the little moonlight overhead she was having enough trouble seeing, and the tears that still partially clouded her eyes only made it worse.

Aralt sighed and motioned to a hollow in a nearby tree. It was very small and could only just fit the two of them. If she slept on things, maybe she'd be okay to search in the morning.

Nodding Arytiss clambered into the hallow, pulling her hood over her head as she did so. Curling into a ball she watched as her sober companion followed in.

Aralt followed and soon got comfortable and fell asleep. He wasn't still. By morning, his arm was around Arytiss like a cuddly mouse doll.

Arytiss soon woke curled up like she had been with her cloak wrapped protectively around her, along with something else. Instinctively she moved closer to the warm appendage but quickly jerked away, realizing what it was. Snapping up she swatted Aralt's arm off of her. "What do you think you're doing?" she snapped angrily.

Aralt snapped awake. At first his eyes dropped and the world was blurry, but as he grew more aware of his surroundings, he yanked his hand away. Nervously he left the hollow, squinting in the sunlight. He searched for his flask but realized it was empty. A dozen curses ran through his head.

Huffing Arytiss followed Aralt out of the hallow. The sun shone brightly through the leafy green canopy high above them. The pool she had fallen into yesterday was like a moving crystal, the surface gently rippling. Scanning the area Arytiss couldn't see any obvious sign of her bow.
