Bridget, who had been gripping the railing tightly shouted back to her friend, "I may be reckless, but I'm no idiot." Bridget's smile was bright and lively, as if she were enjoying their predicament. Truth be told she was.

Another hour passed before they were back on track. When the morning arrived, Ree called her crew together and fixed each man with a steely glare. "I know we were set off course. If you come forward now, you'll be spared a few lashings. If not, the regular amount will be given. And the man who reveals our traitor will get a few rounds of drinks next time we reach Tortuga." She cleared her throat. "Speaking of the very place, who'll keep an eye on our birdie when we make port? He'll fly away, no doubt." She glared at Jack again.

Jack was still wandering hopelessly across the deck, not knowing what to do with himself if he wasn't the captain.

"You never can sit still, can you, Sparrow?" she snarled. "I really ought to put you to work." She turnned to Selkirk. "But him to work. Cabin boy, anything. He's useless as he is."

Jack just looked at her. Work? He had never done any real work on a ship, other than captaining. How was he expected to do anything helpful?

"Come here," Selkirk barked at Jack. Clambering down some steps the burly man opened a door and grabbed something from the darkness. Bringing his hands back into the light he held a bucket and a scrub. "You'll scrub the deck down from the bashing of water we took last night and then you'll go down into the hold of the ship and bale out water. Got it birdman?" Selkirk said, his tone commanding yet playful.

"It's Captain." Jack said, trying to stall.

Selkirk smirked. "Well okay Captain Birdman. Get to work you lazy sea dog or you might just find yourself missing something... important to you." The large man left the area, smiling wickedly as if he had just experience the most fun in the world.

"Captain. Captain Jack Sparrow," Jack said, looking pained.

"So we need to keep going." Ree kept control of the wheel firmly. "I still don't trust him." As the wind picked up, Ree turned from Selkirk to her crew and shouted orders. The actions were quickly carried out. "What if it was him and he's trying to lead us off his trail? We should just kill him as he is."

Jack stood there, just looking at the bucket and scrub brush. How did one go about using one of these... things?
